Cleve Archers Bristol Round - 27th April 2008

Our youngest competative archer Cameron, had his first outdoor outing of the year at a tournament shooting a 12 dozen round at Cleve Archers near Bristol. He was shooting a Bristol IV round which consists of 72 arrows at 40 yds and then 48 arrows at 30 yds followed up by 24 arrows at 20 yds.
The conditions were difficult through the day starting with beautiful sunshine and everyone stripping their layers off quickly, followed by a quick drop in temperature and then thunder and heavy rain and eventually sunshine again when it came to the presentation at 6.30. Cameron was 13 points behind the leader with only the 2 dozen at 20 yds left to shoot and managed to slow his shot routine down and shoot very well at 20yd finishing in first place by 7 points. The photo shows Cameron collecting his Bristol IV Trophy and Gold medal.
I was shooting in the Senior Gents Recurve York round. I managed to shoot a new competition PB by nearly 100 points shooting 974 for the round and hopefully a top 10 placing in his first 12 dozen outing of the year. It was a long day starting out from Oxfordshire at 7am and not getting back until 9pm but with 2 new Personal Bests, 2 New Club Records, a Trophy and a medal in the bag it made the long return journey slightly easier.
