Open Warwick Shoot at Beacon Archers, Edlesborough - 5th April

Congratulations go to Jane Rymells who won first prize in the ladies longbow out of a fairly substancial field!! Results to follow.

I entered the Open Warwick Competition, based at Beacon Archers site in Edlesborough on Saturday 5 April - for a challenge, to get me over a fear of becoming a fair-weather archer and a bit of fun really as a total novice (I've only been shooting since I joined Westcott at the beginning of March, after my beginner's course).

Pulling 24lbs Recurve (first time at 24lbs that day) and shooting at 60 and 50 yards (again, a first - having only shot 20 yards indoors before) - what was I thinking?!  Didn't think rain and wind at nearly a 90 degree angle would meet me at my first ever attempt at an outdoor shoot but it was great - didn't mind too much about my numerous misses... or the weather! Anyway, somehow managed to get a Bronze Medal and was all the more rewarding for getting Westcott a mention, as I was the only Westcott member shooting that day.
